NORD-OSTRON is a collaborative project consisting of University and development players in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The project aimed to be an engine for cross-border innovational and trade development within maritime trade in south-east Scandinavia. This came about through the development of models and tools, specified and implemented in the development of cultivation technologies for Scandinavian oysters. This included improved technology for oyster fry in land-based hatcheries, microalgae, and systems for the further culture of oysters in the sea.
The project thereby made a clear contribution both to the development of innovation and clusters within maritime activity, and also a concrete contribution to trade development in coastal areas as a result of implementation. The project worked closely with trade and industry in the region.
