The Oresund Region has a common heritage that goes back tens of thousands of years, while only 300 years has divided Denmark and Sweden. The project Amaprof wanted to increase voluntary work between two museums on both sides of Oresund to raise awareness of the region's common heritage, but also to exchange methods for using volunteers in the work of the museum.
Archaeological Open Air Museums
The project partners are two Archaeological Open Air Museums (AOAM) in the Oresund region. An AOAM is characterised by being a museum which holds collections of intangible heritage resources and provides an interpretation of how people lived and acted in the past. The enactment is often performed by volunteers spendig a holiday or weekend at the the museum.
Movies and facts
The project wanted to spread information about being a volunteer at the museums as well as educting future volunteers, to improve enactment skills and to improve their knowledge about the common heritage and history in the Oresund region.
In order to increase knowledge and educate volunteers and employees involved in enactment, a number of educating activities were setup. Volunteer exchange programs, where volunteers changed from one museum to the other, were carried out. This was combined with a series of workshops and seminars, and has had a positive effect on volunteers and employees at the museums involved.
The project has produced 17 educating movies as well as a number of printed materials, which can be used in a number of years from now. Movies can be found at their
Youtube channel.
Network of volunteers
Many volunteers have met through the project, and a number of networks have been created. These networks will continue to live on in the future along with the large number of movies and materials for educating purposes.
