How can Denmark and Sweden keep a strong competitive position in a global context? One answer is a better utilisation of the work force and education across the Oresund region. The project Better Opportunities on the Labor Market (Development of Adult Education in the Oresund region) worked with improving further education in municipal service, especially within nursing and young adult aducation.

Flexible work force can increase growth
When compared to other big cities the Oresund region is lacking behind when it comes to economic growth. If the region is to compete on a global market, we need to have a more flexible and better educated work force in the region. Today, difficult rules, language barriers and lack of knowledge about the labour market and the educational system makes it difficult for both employees, students and unemployed people to cross the Oresund to make use of the possibilities there.

Seminars increase knowledge
Projektet Better Opportunities on the Labor Market (Development of Adult Education in the Øresund region) cooperated to increase knowledge about the huge potential in education and work opportunies in the region, especially within nursing/nursery school and young adult education. The differences between the two countries labor markets and educational systems for adults is big problem and creates an obstacles in terms of jobmobility across Oresund.

The project carried out 16 seminars and workshops on adult education and jobmobility in the Oresund Region. 250 people ranging from employees, teachers, and students from Danish and Swedish municipalities and schools participated. The result is a more qualified workforce who has knowledge of system and possibilities within their field of interest.  

The project also lobbied on a national and regional level to acknowledge incompatible educations and authorization for Social- and healtcare assistants.
