Scandinavia is interesting for researchers and students around the world in terms of language and cultures which are alike. The project wanted to create a  leading centre for research and education in Scandinavian Studies, encompassing the fields of language, literature and culture.

Network between universities
There is a growing global interest in studying and researching in Scandinavian languages and culture. Around 200 institutes at universities and colleges have to day focus on on Scandinavian studies. With a good infratstructure and reknowned universities, the Oresund Region, has a unique possibility to become the region, which in a global perspective is connected with Scandinavian studies. However, it demands an even stronger cooperation between the universities in the region. The project Centre for Scandinavian Studies wanted to create new ways of cooperation within education and research between the University of Copenhagen and Lund University.

Scandinavian studies on the agenda
The project carried out a number of seminars, workshops and two large conferences targeted at reseachers, Ph.D students,  professors and students in the field of Scandinavian languages, literature and film. Material from these conferences has been gathered in two books. New courses and seminars at BA and MA levels have been been open to students on both sides of Oresund. A common degree in Scandinavian Studies at MA level were developed.

Webpage and e-publication facilities have been setup, in order to explore and facilitate the development of structures that may encourage the dialogue between Danish and Swedish students and researchers.

New project
