With the decision to build ESS and Max IV in Lund and Copenhagen, the Øresund region will be the locus of a world leading research infrastructure for materials science. Once the facilities are operating they are expected to attract a substantial number of new companies to the region. The project, Øresund Materials Innovation Community, is a mapping and analysis of the innovation system for materials science across the region. The project is meant to point out central themes for further action, in order to make sure that the region is prepared to support the joint European investment in materials science, and to make sure the region – already today – make the best use of the existing resources within the area.
The project includes partners from a broad set of actors in Øresund: universities, science parks, regions, inward investment agencies etc. The Øresund University is the lead partner.
